Sports, or remedial, massage reaches deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is used to break down tight fascia and relieve pressure points throughout the body.
This massage is beneficial for anyone, not just the 'sporty'. The aim is to treat pain, stiffness, restrictions to movement, injury recovery, tight muscles and chronic or acute medical conditions.
Additional supportive techniques can be used during this treatment including dry (myofascial) cupping, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release and trigger point release.
Otherwise known as Dry Cupping. This technique is an alternative therapy useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles by the use of gentle suction cups. It is a great compliment to massage! This will be incorporated into your massage if needed.
It's important and helpful to know where your restrictions lie. Before each initial sports massage a range of tailored tests can be performed to pin point the exact areas of concern. These are all done within your own comfort levels.
Head to toe, all the major muscle groups are massaged in the full body treatment. This is a bespoke treatment so there is no set routine like you would find in a spa. However, you will walk away knowing that any area of tension is relieved, maybe in places you didn't even realise!!
The half body massage follows the same principles, and deals with either the upper or lower body.
These treatments are more for relaxation and time out. Please book a sports massage if you wish to have a specific ailment treated.
Indian Head Massage focuses on the shoulders, neck, head and face and by applying gentle massage strokes and pressure to acupressure points. Oils are used to nourish the scalp and face although this can be discussed during your appointment if it is not to your preference!
This massage helps relieve stress, migraines, tension and neck pain.
Perfect to prepare you for an upcoming sporting event or competition such as a 10k run, weight lifting competition or match.
The pre event massage will ensure your muscles are supple and relieved of tightness. Recommended for a few days before the event.
The post event massage then flushes out lactic acid and relieves delayed onset muscle soreness or discomfort. Recommended a few days after the event. Most people book both the pre and post massage around their event date.
As this is a short 30 minute appointment, only one area is generally worked (such as legs for a runner).
Stay tuned for upcoming new treatments including Manual Lymphatic Drainage!
First time clients for sports/ remedial massage should choose this option . This is designed to assess and treat injuries and ailments causing pain and discomfort and is for rehabilitation and relief. This appointment involves a full history taking discussion, range of movement, and functional assessment. Aftercare advice and additional text/ WhatsApp support provided.
As above, but for a longer initial session such as issues with multiple body areas. Please contact Michelle if you are unsure if you need to book this length of time.
Ideal as a follow up to the initial 60 minute massage treatment to work on areas previously assessed and treated.
Ideal as a follow up to the initial 60 minute massage treatment to work on areas previously assessed and treated. Appropriate for a smaller area, such as one shoulder or knee.
Ideal pre event (such as a 10km run, Strongman event etc) to prep your muscles, or after the event to relax and flush out that lactic acid. This would be offered to a specific area, such as legs only.
This full body deep tissue massage is tailored individually so there is no 'standard routine' like you would get in a spa massage. The major muscle groups are treated from top to toe, and areas of concern or discomfort are further explored. This is more of a relaxing massage for overall wellbeing.
As per the full body option but related to half the body, for example, upper body or lower body.
Focussed on tension and stress relief to the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face with scalp and hair massage.
